Sylvia Plath was an incredible woman. Though her life was cut short by her depression, she gave the world so much in the time she was alive. Not only did she write one of the most powerful feminist books I've ever read, she also wrote a lot of poetry too and all of it presents her thoughts clearly.
She also taught me an important lesson- "If you expect nothing from anybody, you'll never be disappointed." which is honestly a lesson I needed to learn. I expected a lot of the people I love and that was rarely fair on them. And then if they couldn't deliver, I would be really disappointed and sad... Then I read Sylvia Plath and that message really sunk in because of her. I'm really proud of the person I've become because of learning not to expect much off these people- and it's all because I sat down and read Sylvia Plath :)
