Standing like a Christmas tree halfway through July

She went unnoticed by the piercing eye

Her body blank, no tinsel in sight

She reminded herself not to look at the light

He was the one golden leaf that clung during Autumn

Nearing the undyfyable rockbottom

His eyes lost in the girl sitting next to him

His mind filled with her features nearing the brim

There will always be a difference between the trees

The trees are expected to perform so they can please

But this young tree with the one golden leaf fell in love

He fell for the dull Christmas tree without a shove.
