We've taken the idea of a gap year and turned it on its head to become a 'Start Year'. During your Start Year - after Year 12 - you'll get to volunteer for three to nine months in Australia or Asia Pacific working in the areas of teaching, community work, environment, conservation or sports coaching.
Young People Without Borders has teamed up with some amazing organisations who will arrange and manage your placement in Australia or the Asia Pacific:
Lattitude Global Volunteering provides opportunities for young people to make a positive difference to the lives of others through international cross-cultural volunteering experiences. Lattitude offers YPWB placements in: China, India, Vietnam, Fiji and Vanuatu.
Conservation Volunteers Australia (CVA) is offering extended placements within Australia. Join important environmental and wildlife conservation projects right around the country, working on outback, reefs and desert. CVA gives young people the chance to connect with the environment in new and exciting ways in locations like Hobart, Launceston, Adelaide, Townsville, Cairns, Melbourne, Hamilton, Geelong and Newcastle.
Global Vision International (GVI) is multi-award winning social enterprise that runs conservation and community development programs around the world. GVI offers YPWB placements in Laos, Fiji, Nepal and Thailand.
Applications are now open for 2014 placements through Conservation Volunteers Australia and Global Vision International. Head to their websites to find out how to apply.
