De-stress with a Mindfulness Meditation

The holidays can be a stressful time, and practising Mindfulness can make a huge difference!

The holiday season can be a really wonderful time, but it can also be quite stressful. A great way to manage that stress and keep yourself feeling confident and focused, is to practise mindfulness.

Mindfulness exercises allow you to be able to identify stressful or frightening thoughts, feelings and sensations - and to accept and tolerate them. Sometimes described as a form of meditation, mindfulness gives you back some sense of control over your thoughts and feelings. Rather than having the sense that you are being pushed around by your feelings and thoughts you learn to be able to have some agency over them.

Mindfulness is easy to try, and gets easier the more you practice. Plenty of high-profile Australians are advocates of mindfulness in their lives, including singer Clare Bowditch. You can start small, with a guided 5 or 10 minute exercise, and work your way up to longer, self-guided meditation.
